First, stochastic terrorism. Now, Trump's political rally violence. The right wing is escalating.

Having seen Rachel Maddow’s observation of the clashes in Chicago, I’ll say this.

This is yet another consequence of the Republican’s creation of the Frankenstein’s Monster that is Donald Trump.

Rachel said this when she was watching the skirmishes between Trump supporters and protesters in Chicago.

 “Violence at these events, which may start organically, is in effect spot lit and encouraged to the point where it becomes something that is legitimately out of control of anyone,” she explained. “And then the spectacle of political violence is itself seen as something that is a problem that needs to be solved by this strongman character who incited the initial event in the first place.”

It started on a lower level, with the tactic of stochastic terrorism, where elements of the right-wing media, including FOX News, would use their microphones to demonize targets, until those targets were violently attacked by “lone wolves”. Targeted victims included George Tiller, Gabby Giffords, and Planned Parenthood (specifically, the Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs was attacked, resulting in the murder of three people).

The disturbing realization I’ve had is that stochastic terrorism was just the first level of how violence was being used as a political tool by the authoritarian right.

Now we’re starting to see the next level, by the new demagogue that has broken free of the leash that has traditionally held him in check, Donald Trump.

Now, he’s got his rallies running with all the fervor of Hitler’s Nuremberg rally, complete with calls to violently “take care of” those Others that are being blamed for our country’s ills. And now, Trump’s been turning the volume up, telling his fanatical base, in the lyrics of Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, to “Get ‘em up against the wall!”

Now, in Chicago, things escalated. When Trump starts pushing by inciting his followers to violence, pushback is inevitable. When people sense they’re about to be punched, they punch back, and that’s what happened in Chicago. Thankfully, nobody has been killed, yet…

And now, Trump’s going to use that violence he stirred up. As Rachel Maddow pointed out, Trump has not created these events by accident. He’s more than happy to let this shit run out of control, until people start getting killed, so he can position himself as the Strongman Who Will Restore Order.

Donald Trump must be kept out of the White House. He cannot be given authority over our country’s military and law enforcement. This is nothing less than the authoritarian right in our country finding a flag under which they can rally, and then making a power play for control of our government. If they succeed, America may see a new dark age.
