To the down-ballot races, fellow Kossacks!

I’m going to keep this short and sweet. And I can’t take too long — I’m juggling two jobs right now.

This past couple of weeks, Donald Trump really shit the bed. Between two lousy debate performances, and the tape of his bragging about what is essentially sexual assault, it already looks like his poll numbers are in free fall. I imagine in the next day or two, we’re going to have a collective pollgasm upon looking at FiveThirtyEight and Princeton...

Now it’s time to adjust our strategy.

It’s eaaaasy to just keep thinking about Hillary. But Hillary’s probably already won. The key now is to maximize our victories.

It’s time to go down-ballot. Start with the US Senate and House races. Clinton and Dems are likely at this point to have enough of a lead that now the House of Representatives are in play. Despite gerrymandering. Paul Ryan’s freaking out right now, and Reince Priebus is busy redirecting money to save the GOP majority in Congress. They are vulnerable, and we know it.

But wait, there’s more. Down at the state level, you’ve got state senate and house races (or whatever your state’s legislative chambers are called). Put more Democrats there.

And in your local races. You’ve got city council races, county commissioner races, school board races, university regent races, and so on and so on. The Republicans have been masters of sneaking right-wing nutcases onto school boards and city councils, who have been doing things like blocking LGBT rights, inflicting creationism on school kids, and so on.

It’s time that changed. As James Carville put it, when your opponent is drowning, toss the SOB an anvil!

The overall strategy is to take Donald Trump and put him around the necks of every down-ballot Republican we can.

This kind of opportunity may only happen once in a generation. Time to strike!
